Cisco Certified Network Associate Security (CCNA® Security) validates associate-level knowledge and skills required to secure Cisco networks. With a CCNA Security certification, a network professional demonstrates the skills required to develop a security infrastructure, recognize threats, vulnerabilities to networks, and mitigate security threats. The CCNA Security curriculum emphasizes core security technologies, installation, troubleshooting, monitoring of network devices to maintain integrity, confidentiality and availability of data and devices, plus competency in the technologies that Cisco uses in its security structure.

Through a combination of classroom lecture and practical exercises, students will develop security policies and protect their IT infrastructure. Achievement of this certification confirms an individual’s competence in both the theoretical and practical aspects of security. Prior to attaining the CCNA Security certification, a valid and active CCNA certification is required. This course will prepare the individual for securing a LAN/WAN network security engineering environment. The primary objective is to prepare students to pass the Cisco CCNA Security examination, and to provide a level of working competence, to attain employment in the network security field.
CCNA Security is a new associate-level certification required by Cisco Systems prior to taking their professional-level CCSP course. Course objectives require the knowledge to install, configure, troubleshoot, and monitor Cisco security network devices, including, but not limited to: Cisco routers, switches, VPN Concentrator 3000 series, intrusion detection systems, and firewalls. Overall, the CCNA Security course will offer a comprehensive, understanding of both layer 1, 2, 3, and 4 securities, providing the student with practical and theoretical training.
